How much do you charge?

Every case is different so we will discuss the appropriate fee structure with you during our first conversation, once we have briefly discussed your situation. We can consider flexible fee arrangements, can help you to arrange third party funding (within certain parameters) and always tailor the support we offer to the specific circumstances of each client. Our charges are typically a lot less than lawyers’ fees. For more information about this go to Why Use Us.

Do you take referral fees?

No. We believe in being transparent and honest with our clients and referrers and the simplest way to achieve that is not to give or accept referral fees. As a result we can freely give unbiased and objective advice in our clients’ best interests.

Why do I need you as well as my lawyer?

We do not act as lawyers and our services complement the work of your legal team, rather than replace it. Many lawyers recommend us to their clients as they value the emotional and practical support we give. Working closely with your lawyer creates a support team for you, which ensures that you always have access to the most appropriate and cost-effective professional for each stage of the process. For details of how we work with lawyers go to What We Do.

How can you save me money?

One of our main aims is to help you to save money on your legal fees. By instructing us, most clients make significant cost savings or end up at least cost-neutral. First of all, we would help you appoint the right legal team if appropriate. We can also do much of the time-consuming work that your lawyer would otherwise do at higher charge out rates. It is much more cost-effective to rely on us for practical and emotional support which leaves your solicitor able to concentrate on the legal issues in your case. In some cases we recommend clients to go to barristers for advice under Direct Access or to represent themselves with our assistance (and sometimes a lawyer in the background) – this flexibility can lead to huge cost savings. On top of all this, we offer you a level of emotional support that reduces the stress of the whole process. I’m not sure if I want a divorce. Is it worth me seeing you?

Yes. Getting divorced or separated is a big step and it is a good idea to know what your options are and what is involved, including any likely outcomes, before you go ahead. We can discuss whether reconciliation is possible or whether you should try therapy, for example. You may decide after seeing us that you want more time to think things over. Or, you may want to get started. Either way, everything we talk about will be completely confidential and there will be no pressure to take any action until you are ready. We find that having knowledge of the process and what is likely to happen following separation often reduces our clients’ anxiety and enables them to make the decision whether to proceed from a position of knowledge and therefore strength.
